Crescendo Presents: Your Local Nova Scotia Artists
A contemporary jazz ensemble based in Halifax, NS, whose purpose is to perform original compositions and arrangements by local, emerging artists. The Forward Bound consider jazz to be more an approach than a genre and their music explores the balance between compositional structure and the improvisational spirit of jazz as it navigates various stylistic influences.
Bill Travis writes and performs in English and Spanish, backing up his own guitar playing with mouthed horn impersonations. His songs deal with existential crises, coincidence, and a unique take on the everyday, drawing on his many musical teachers and influences for his slightly askew folk-pop sound.
His deep powerful vocals and soulful harmonica, supported by his hard playing band The Sharpshooters, will whisk you from the juke joints of Mississippi, to the hard edge blues clubs of Chicago, and leave you swingin' and jumpin' west coast style.
